Diabetes Scare

The other day I went to a doctor (who’s sort of a quack) about this skin irritation I had on my leg (it’s actually a boil, but didn’t want to gross you out right away) and he told me that it might be a sign of diabetes. And I thought it was caused by my masseuse pulling too hard on my hair on my “Conan the Balbonian” legs. So the doc told me to fast that night and come back in the morning for a blood test. So the whole time I was worried sick that I might have diabetes but then I also got worried that I was worrying.

I show up the next morning and the doc forgot about our appointment, I can’t blame him, he’s had 7 bypasses, so even he forgets about his own health. So I decided to go to a real clinic instead of the hardware store/clinic where he practices. I had to fast again another night and wait another day for the results. To cut the long story short, I am fine! Thank God! But it just made me realize, in between my episodes of freaking out, that I shouldn’t take my health for granted and neither should you. We all better watch what we eat and try to exercise regularly. Now where is my ampalaya juice…
