Magners International Comedy Festival

I had the privilege of being part of the Magners International Comedy Festival Philippine leg, together with fellow Comedy Cartel members Rene Cruz, Jr., Michelle Defensor, Chip Balbuena, and Joseph Montecillo. They flew in comedians Andrew Netto, Kavin Jay, and Sunanda Sachatrakul for the 2-night show.

The audience was mostly Indian for both nights. Why do I have to say that? Because I’m racist. But I’m also a pacifist. So I won’t fight anyone over my prejudice. Actually I say that because it explains why I chose the topic of Sindhis and the posh villages of Metro Manila – Magallañes, Dasmariñas, Forbes Park, and San Lorenzo.

Some prominent public figures were also present that night which included James Deakin, the American journalist who covers a lot of Philippine car news, reviews, and motorsports. Basically, if there’s an asshole on the road, you tell Mr. James Deakin about it and he’ll point out why that idiot is wrong.

The other celebrities were Rovilson Fernandez and Marc Nelson, who got roasted but not in this video. I might post another video of that roast but it might make them and the LGBT community uncomfortable. Then I will be accused of also being sexist on top of being a pacifist racist. Oh how the world loves to judge.

To be honest, I’m running out of things to say and I don’t really like explaining jokes or describing videos but I’ve read that Google loves that shit and really wants you to have articles that have 1,000 words or longer for your content to be considered good and relevant. So that leaves me to blab for some 730 more words, more or less.

So what should we talk about? EJK’s? That should get me a lot of hits, but mostly from trolls who think I’m doing something that anti-government. But that should give this post more traction, though I’m not sure it’s the kind of traction I would like.

We could talk more about the local comedy scene, which I haven’t really been actively in lately mostly by choice and also because I have a newborn son. But even before that, I’ve been choosing my shows because I can’t stay up as late at night as I used to. Also, I really want to focus on doing more projects online. So as of now I’ve only written 383 words.

I just want to brag that I personally did the editing and subtitles of this standup comedy video. It took me a while to do it. It’s tedious to do subtitles. Next time, I should just hire someone else to do it. I want to find another software that can do fancier visual graphics with subtitling. Can anyone recommend a software that does that? Preferably something that works on a Mac.

Okay, I give up. I’m not going to reach a thousand words on this. Just watch the video and if you want more, let me know and I’ll upload more of them. Also, please like my page on Facebook for all things Filipino standup comedy.
