Snippets of 19 East Comedy Show

Here are some comedy bits from our latest show at 19 East last March 19, 2011.

It was great to back in 19 East in Sucat performing stand up comedy with the rest of the Comedy Cartel. It was our first gig at 19 East for this year. I was lucky enough to have tried my new material on stage at a real gig. I took some of my old topics and took a fresh approach and thankfully I got some new bits out of it. The key is to just keep working at it until you get the 9th or 10th punch line where your originality and point of view really comes out.

Of course, my stage experience carried me the rest of the way. And that’s one thing I learned, I can retire my old material but I can never retire my stage experience. So if you’re an aspiring comedian, stage experience still trumps material. Don’t get me wrong, material is important too, but stage confidence can bring even the mediocre joke to the top. The best is to be good at both – stage performer and original writer.

Thanks to everyone who came out in the South. We will see you again next month. Stay tuned for the next date. And thanks to Gary Jackson for joining us on stage this whole week. Hope to do more shows with you, Gweilo.
